Welcome to the home page of
The Orchestra Society of Philadelphia

Philadelphia's reading orchestra since 1964

Our next rehearsal will take place on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 7:30 PM in Presser Hall on the Temple University campus (13th and Norris Streets).
Ovidiu Marinescu will conduct Dvorák's The Golden Spinning Wheel, Noonday Witch and Wild Dove.

Orchestra Society of Philadelphia is very interested in attracting skilled members to our string sections. Our purpose is to read orchestral music, some standard repertoire, some music less often played by other orchestras, each Friday night.

If you are looking for an outlet for your musical skill, Orchestra Society may be a great fit with your goals. Find out more about us, including details of schedules, repertoire and location on this website. Contact us at We look forward to meeting you.

We rehearse each Friday night in Temple University's Presser Hall, Room 240.

OSP is a reading orchestra. We play a different work each week with either our principal conductor, Jack Moore or one of our many guest conductors. The majority of our repertoire is lent to us by the Fleisher Collection at the Free Library of Philadelphia.

We are always looking for string players! Come play with us as a guest before deciding to join us permanently.
